We Arrived At Our New Home In Guarare, Panama!
We arrived late last night… after 10pm. Our day started by dropping Henry off at 8 am to cargo. Then Vic dropped me off with our luggage and returned our Hertz rental car. He and Milo joined me at check in to check our luggage and get through security. All of our paperwork was in order and we waited for our flight.
I really like COPA Airlines. The seats were comfortable and reminded me of American Airlines (my personal favorite). Our direct flight was on time. Once we arrived, we smoothly went through customs and headed to get our bags. Unfortunately, one of bags was missing, but eventually found and will arrive this afternoon.
Jose with Golden Frog (Personal Panama Transportation and Travel Support Services) met us with Henry and we headed out. Traffic was minimal getting out of Panama City. Jose is a very safe driver. He is also a spiritual man and said that during our drive that he felt we were exceptionally positive and we are both good people. He said that he had never had such light traffic traveling out of Panama City and suspected it was because of us. I told him that from the very beginning; we have had doors open for us exactly when we needed them. Light traffic was a gift from God and the universe.
Arriving at our rental, Bonnie, our neighbor, met us with the keys (OMG, so many keys!). She was kind enough to give us a tour of the house, showing us where everything was (light switches and the such). She filled us in on the local events of the weekend (a festival honoring a Saint of Fishermen that will have a procession in front of our house). They’ll start from a church across the street from us, then walk out to the ocean in back of our house. And there will be fireworks too. Bonnie invited us to join her with a group staying with her currently to go out to dinner tonight. Everyone has been so friendly.
The house is small and simple. A traditional Panamanian style home. Exactly what we said we wanted. In the morning light we see the ocean and all is well. We are settling in slowly and will figure it all out. Vic found our coffee – we worried that it might have been in the missing luggage. We have been so fortunate throughout this entire experience.
