Macchiato Café Bistró in Chitre, Panama

This morning, I set out to visit another coffee shop in Chitre. I walked about 25 minutes to the town center, and across the street from the San Juan Bautista Cathedral is a restaurant called La Bruja Cafe, or The Witch Cafe. I looked at the opening times on their website, and they advertised as open at 8:00 a.m. At 8:00 a.m., I waited 15 minutes, and they still weren’t open. So, I decided to go with Plan B.

The next coffee shop on my list was Macchiato Café Bistró, about five minutes away. Perfecto! The entrance to the cafe was simple but cozy. I was greeted by a young gentleman who escorted me to a table of my preference. He asked if I would like a menu. Si, por favor. He brought me a menu, and I immediately ordered an Americano. After perusing the menu, I decided to try the Vegetarian Omelet.

As I took notes in my journal, he returned in about 10 minutes with my coffee in a giant cup and took my order. I was impressed by the light brown foam circling the top of my coffee. I took a sip, and it was fantastic. It wasn’t watered down like the last two coffee shops I visited. It had some serious flavor!

The omelet came out later, and it looked amazing! A layer of eggs doubled over with all the vegetables stacked on top. There were sauteed carrots, red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, red onions, and eggplant. Three slices of toasted bread with a side of butter accompanied my meal. It didn’t take long for me to devour my breakfast. I told the waiter, ¡El café es excelente! ¡El desayuno es delicioso! He smiled and brought my bill – $11.00.

I highly recommend a visit to Macchiato Café Bistró. It gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for excellent coffee, service, and great food. I will also take my wife to try the Italian lunch and dinner menu.
